Overview

Inspired by a fully CGI Bugatti commercial, I challenged myself to create my own luxury automotive reveal centered around lighting, reflections, and cinematic storytelling. Rather than revealing the vehicle immediately, I carefully built each shot around silhouettes, reflections, and controlled lighting to gradually unveil the Pagani while following the visual language of premium automotive advertisements. Alongside the cinematic itself, I modeled much of the garage environment, completed portions of the vehicle, and developed a rendering workflow focused on maximizing realism while maintaining real-time performance.

My Role

• Director • Environment Artist • 3D Modeler • Lighting Artist • Cinematographer • Animator • Rendering • Color Grading

Tools Used

Maya • Unreal Engine 5.7 • Sequencer • Movie Render Queue • Adobe Premiere Pro

Process / Workflow

The project began inside Maya where I modeled the garage, workbenches, lighting fixtures, and completed missing portions of the downloaded Pagani model. I also refined my Maya-to-Unreal workflow to keep every object modular and editable after import. Once the environment was assembled, I selected a soundtrack and built the cinematic around its pacing. Inspired by luxury automotive advertisements, I designed camera movements that followed the curves of the vehicle, allowing reflections and lighting to reveal the car gradually. A large portion of production focused on balancing Lumen reflections, emissive lighting, ray-traced illumination, and post-processing to achieve realistic reflections while maintaining performance. The final cinematic was rendered through Movie Render Queue as EXR image sequences before color grading and audio editing in Premiere Pro.
