Overview
This collection of animation studies was created to strengthen my understanding of traditional character animation. The project showcases several movement exercises, including a walk cycle, jump cycle, lifting animation, and a rotoscoped baseball throw. Each exercise focused on developing a stronger understanding of timing, spacing, anticipation, follow-through, and weight. Rather than producing a narrative short film, the goal was to build a solid animation foundation by studying how characters move and react naturally.

Each animation was approached as a study of a different type of movement. Most of the sequences were animated traditionally, frame by frame, using the principles of classical animation. The baseball throw was created as a rotoscoping exercise, tracing live-action reference frame by frame to better understand realistic human motion. The remaining studies focused on applying those observations through original hand-drawn animation while emphasizing body mechanics and performance.
