Overview
I began by researching fluid physics before learning Blender's fluid simulation system from the ground up. After developing believable water motion and splash behavior, I refined viscosity, glass materials, HDRI lighting, and reflections to achieve a premium product-commercial aesthetic. The completed renders were integrated into Unreal Engine and later composited into the final Water Is Life commercial.

The project began with developing a script, storyboard, and production timeline before presenting the concept for approval. Once approved, I planned filming locations across multiple University of Hawaiʻi campuses and organized the overall structure of the video. When the original plan for a live-action host became impractical, I pivoted to creating a MetaHuman presenter. I learned full-body and facial motion capture, refined animation by hand inside Unreal Engine, created custom clothing using Marvelous Designer, and built a virtual presentation stage specifically for the project. Between the MetaHuman segments, I filmed live-action footage across UH Mānoa, UH West Oʻahu, and Kapiʻolani Community College, combining ground cinematography with aerial drone footage to highlight sustainability initiatives throughout the campuses. To complete the project, I used Unreal Engine render layers to separately composite the MetaHuman and environment, allowing precise control during color grading and post-production. After assembling the edit in Adobe Premiere Pro, I refined the final visual style and audio mix into the completed educational film.
