Overview
Created as a personal passion project, this film captures the emotional atmosphere of Hawaiʻi's Memorial Day ceremony through cinematic drone cinematography. Rather than documenting the event traditionally, I wanted to create an emotional visual experience that honored those who served while exploring cinematic pacing, lighting, and storytelling through aerial imagery. The project challenged me to adapt continuously changing sunset lighting while capturing the ceremony's most meaningful moments.

I approached the ceremony like a narrative rather than an event. Beginning with wide establishing shots, I gradually transitioned into closer emotional moments before following the changing light throughout sunset. As evening arrived, I captured the candlelit boats drifting across the water, using the final aerial shots to symbolize remembrance and reflection. Throughout the edit I focused on pacing, allowing the music and ceremony to naturally guide the emotional rhythm of the film.
