Overview

Nessie the Sea Serpent was a collaborative stop-motion animation created alongside two classmates as part of a traditional animation project. Together, we developed an original story following a fisherman who unexpectedly encounters the legendary Nessie after falling asleep while waiting for a catch. Every character, prop, and environment was illustrated, hand-cut, and animated frame-by-frame using practical stop-motion techniques. The project provided valuable experience in traditional animation workflows while reinforcing the patience, precision, and teamwork required to produce stop-motion animation.

Our team began by brainstorming the story before designing every character, prop, and environment using paper cutouts. Once production began, every movement was photographed frame-by-frame through stop-motion animation. After filming was complete, I assembled the final edit, completed the sound design, and refined the pacing to create a finished short film.
